Wellington SPCA promotes the humane treatment of animals and prevents cruelty to animals through law enforcement, community education and engagement. Our vision is to end animal cruelty, neglect and unwanted animals.
We have been at the forefront of animal welfare across the wider Wellington region for over 130 years and we are the second largest of all the SPCA’s in New Zealand.
Wellington SPCA is the only charity in the region with the power to protect all animals, including prosecuting people under the Animal Welfare Act 1999. We rely entirely on the generosity of the community to fund the work we do, as we receive no direct government funding.
