The Rural Youth and Adult Literacy Trust deals with rural or isolated adults and teenagers who have had bad experiences of education and want to change their lives. In 2018 the Trust ran Catchup Literacy camps for at-risk Waikato teenagers at the Port Waikato School Camp during school holidays. The 20 boys attending the April and October 2018 camps came from Ngatea, Paeroa, Huntly, Thames, Waihi and Tokoroa. In 2019 RYALT intends to run separate camps for girls and boys in years 9-10 at the Port Waikato School Camp and in the Far North.
