Parkinson's Hawke's Bay is a professional health service, registered charity and not-for-profit organisation which provides support and information to people with Parkinson's, their caregivers and families, so they can maintain their independence and lead fulfilling lives. Members receive free home/hospital visits from the Parkinson's Community Educator who is a registered nurse with specialised training relating to Parkinson's. The Community Educator can make referrals to other health professionals as appropriate and provides reassurance and support for both the person with Parkinson's, their family and/or their caregiver. Weekly exercise classes are held specifically designed for people with Parkinson's. The Community Educator service also provides in-service training for Rest Home staff and other care facilities staff enabling best practice care for people with Parkinson's in their care. Membership fees are $60 per annum per household
