One Good Kiwi Support

Kia ora,

Last week the Oke Charity built its 40th outdoor classroom (OC) here in Auckland and we're well on our way to reaching the epic milestone of fifty OC's by the end of 2024. In order to achieve this, we need your help.

Each month One New Zealand gives a share of $100,000 to 10 different charities. The portion of the $100,000 that Oke Charity will receive depends on how many tokens we are given by our amazing community.

It doesn't cost you anything to support this campaign, just a few minutes. Just head to the One Good Kiwi website (hit the Read More button) and scroll across to find our South Auckland Chief Go-Getter, Alisi, talking about Oke Charity and the work we do with schools.

Click on the green token below Alisi's image and you will see your tokens coming to us with each click :)

If you'd like to support us even more, then you can download the One Good Kiwi app and create an account and you will get 10 tokens to donate to Oke. Hitting the Refer a Friend icon in the app and sharing with friends and family, will earn you even more tokens!

Thank you so much for your support! It will allow us to create more outdoor classrooms like the many we've already built and help Oke to continue Growing Mighty Kids. www.oke.org.nz...

Papatoetoe South School Working Bee

Paul Dickson from

So, on Tuesday 8th May, the next OKE Growing A Future Working Bee will be taking place at Papatoetoe South Primary school. We've been very fortunate to receive funds from Fonterra Grassroots Fund to cover some of the costs of the working bee and once again we'll have Bunnings on board.

We need more volunteers to help build the garden, so if you're free, please do come along. Everything kicks off at 8.45am and the garden should be all built by 3.30pm! See you there :)

Good Morning,

We just wanted to give you a quick update of what the OKE Charity has been up too this last little while.

Wow, what a month March was for OKE, from the very first day of the month it was all go. On the 1st of the month, OKE managed its first working bee of 2017 at Bairds Mainfreight Primary School. It was another successful day, transforming their old school garden into a new productive space, where the kids can enjoy all the amazing benefits of having a space to grow. Our Growing A Future initiative provides schools with pretty much everything that is needed for a school to get growing; raised beds, greenhouse, soil, tools for the kids and teachers and most importantly, the time to pull the whole working bee together. We were very fortunate to have Mitre10 Mega Manukau donate feijoa trees to be planted on the day.

Straight after we had kicked off Bairds Mainfreight with their garden, the OKE Squad started to plan our second working bee of the year. This week we built a garden at Weymouth Primary, which was just off the chart crazy good. For this working bee, not only did we have amazing local volunteers, we also had staff from Crombie Lockwood help out and the entire Vodafone Warriors squad helped out as well! The awesome news is that with this garden completed, OKE has now provided 2,500 kids with access to a school garden! BOOM :)

Also this month, we supported the crackin’ Manukau Beautification Charitable Trust with their brilliant Eye On Nature event. It was great fun being part of the workshops, teaching the kids how to use recycled containers to plant up seeds and be part of the Family Day which saw thousands of locals have fun learning about food and where it comes from.

The big goal for OKE in 2017, is to get four schools kicked off with new gardens, with two down, we need your support to fund the next two! We have a great new Donation page all setup, just head on over to the OKE website, have a read about what we're about and feel free to donate.

Thanks for taking the time to read this quick hello and I hope you enjoy the rest of your week.
