An operation is underway after a man and his vehicle have been reported missing near Warkworth.
At 7.41am, information was received that a man had been washed away at a river crossing on Falls Road, near the intersection with Woodcocks Road.

At 7.41am, information was received that a man had been washed away at a river crossing on Falls Road, near the intersection with Woodcocks Road.
Police have since been on scene and established further information, after a passenger was able to exit the vehicle and raise the alarm.
A Police Search and Rescue team has deployed to the area, and Police are assisting Fire and Emergency crews with ongoing search efforts.
At this stage the man remains outstanding.
A section of Falls Road has been closed.
Police strongly advise members of the public to avoid the area, and people should pay close attention to weather warnings in place.
Please take additional care around waterways with further rain forecasted.

The cause of the death remains unexplained, and the Police investigation is ongoing.

The cause of the death remains unexplained, and the Police investigation is ongoing.
Enquiries to date indicate that earlier in the day a group of people may have visited the address at 9 Kerr Street, Devonport, and used the pool, including one adult and at least two children.
We do not believe these people were present at the address at the time of the death, however we are asking that they come forward to enable Police to confirm their movements and any observations they may have made.
Police asking that they, or anyone who may know their identities, contact Police on 105 and quote the file number 260102/0177.

Around 5.20am today [Thursday 1 January], Police were called with a report that someone was deceased on Kaipara Coast Highway, between Tuhirangi Road and Makarau Road.
Enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing, however Police believe it is likely that the person was struck by a vehicle.
Police would like to hear from anyone who was travelling in the area between midnight and 5.30am, who observed a pedestrian walking on Kaipara Coast Highway, Makarau, or has who has dashcam footage of the area during that time.
We are also urging any residents in the Makarau area with road-facing CCTV cameras to please get in touch so that we may review this footage.

The road is expected to remain closed for the next three hours while a scene examination takes place with the Serious Crash Unit.

The Waitematā West Tactical Crime Unit is investigating a burglary in the Piha area on 6 December 2025.
Detective Sergeant Anna Freestone says scrap metal and tools were amongst items stolen, but also an valuable artwork called ‘Infinite Sea’.
“The round artwork is made up of glass, a mirror, led lighting and PVC,” she says.
“It’s a distinctive piece of art and we’re asking anyone in the public who has information on its whereabouts to get in touch.
It may be that this artwork has been offered up or advertised for sale, and we need to hear from you.”
