A woman was located later in the evening with injuries and is continuing to receive medical treatment this morning. Detective Inspector Callum McNeill, of Waitematā CIB, says three people arrived at a Sunnyhaven Avenue property in a vehicle just before 7.30pm.
“An altercation has occurred, with the female occupant of the address being forced into the vehicle.
“As this has unfolded a firearm has been discharged, and this has been the subject of multiple reports from neighbours to Police.”
A large amount of Police resource deployed into the area after 111 calls were received, including the Police Eagle helicopter.
The vehicle was not located, however later in the evening Police responded to Mackay Drive in Greenhithe.
“A woman was located with injuries outside an address, and we have established that it is the victim from Beach Haven.
“She has sustained injuries and is in a stable condition, receiving treatment.
“These injuries are not in relation to the firearm being discharged.”
Detective Inspector McNeill says he acknowledges members of the community who quickly contacted Police to report information.
“We have been speaking to a number of witnesses in the area, and this will continue.
“I know this incident will be alarming to the Beach Haven community, and we are treating this matter very seriously.
“What I can say at this stage is that we are following lines of enquiry into this matter and those responsible.”
A cordon in place at the Beach Haven address has since been stood down, however a Police presence will remain around the North Shore communities, Detective Inspector McNeill says.
“The public will continue to see our staff in the area in response to what has occurred.
“We are asking anyone that has information and hasn’t yet spoken to investigation staff to come forward.”

These tips are being shared after a 44-year-old woman will appear in Pukekohe District Court on 28 March charged with theft.
An alleged mail thief in the Pukekohe area has hand-delivered herself into Police, following assistance from the community.
Counties Manukau South Senior Sergeant MJ Riddle says Police were aware of locals discussing a mail theft on social media. A report was made to Police at the time in January and had included enough detail including CCTV footage and a vehicle of interest. Following Police enquiries, the woman has brought herself into the Pukekohe Police Station a few days later
“This is a great result for the community and a timely reminder to the public to continue reporting any thefts from letterboxes.”
Senior Sergeant Riddle says
“Our community should be able to receive parcels and mail without concern of interference but unfortunately there are people in our communities who take advantage of opportunities to commit thefts from mail boxes and front porches."
“We encourage anyone who has been the victim of dishonesty offending to report it as soon as possible,” she says."
Police are continuing to keep an eye out for suspicious activity in the small hours around the north-west of Auckland.

In the past two nights, patrols have picked up suspicious vehicles travelling into the Helensville township.
Waitematā North Relieving Area Commander, Senior Sergeant Roger Small says there have been increases in reports of dishonesty offences and vehicle crime in some rural communities. He says “We have seen reports in recent weeks across the Helensville, Kumeū and Huapai areas involving stolen vehicles or property being stolen from vehicles,”
“We’re actively following up these reports and as part of this response we have patrolling in place around the times when this offending is happening.”
Just before 2am, one of the patrols observed a vehicle with numerous occupants travelling toward Helensville on State Highway 16.
“The vehicle was signalled to stop, but on seeing the red and blue lights accelerated away at a very high speed,” Senior Sergeant Small says. “Another unit was able to successfully deploy spikes after the vehicle entered the Helensville township, and the vehicle came to a stop.”
All occupants, including the 17-year-old-driver, were taken into custody without further incident.
“We’re reminding the community that we are out there patrolling, and if you are ever signalled to stop by Police you should always stop, otherwise you are committing an offence.”
This follows another incident at around 2.18am on 8 January, where a vehicle was seen by a patrol being driven at speed through roadworks near Helensville.
“Due to the driver’s excessive speed, the vehicle was not pursued but it was later seen travelling through the township toward Wainui,” Senior Sergeant Small says. “Follow up enquiries are being made with the vehicle’s registered owner as to who was driving the vehicle at the time.”
Today’s reminder follows a challenge issued by Police in the lead up to the New Year for locals to make their vehicles less attractive.
“We’re asking the locals to keep it up, making sure their vehicle is secured and all their valuables are taken out when it’s not in use,” Senior Sergeant Small says. “Police are still actively following up these reports and we ask that the community remains aware of the issue. “Keep an eye out for suspicious activity in your area, and if you see something untoward let us know as soon as possible.”

Area Commander for East Auckland Inspector Jim Wilson says “the checkpoints set up in the Mt Wellington and North Auckland area have been very effective and prevented a number of motorcyclists in the convoy from causing wider harm on the road.”
“I hope the community can see that our presence here today shows that Police do not tolerate gangs attempting to dominate our roads.”
In addition to the 100 infringement notices and seven motorbikes seized earlier in the day, Police will be issuing a further 20 infringement notices and two license suspensions.
Inspector Jim Wilson says “the check point on Marua Road, Mt Wellington was particularly effective and as a result we were able to stop each rider that came through and deter high-risk driving behaviours.”
While a number of people riding in the convoy were compliant and had vehicles that met the required standards, Police still fielded a number of reports from the public.
“Gang activity of this nature is unsettling for motorists, and it is unacceptable for groups to conduct themselves in a way that intimidates the community.
Police will continue to conduct enforcement operations like you have seen today and hold offenders to account” says Inspector Jim Wilson.
The high visibility check points will remain in place to prevent drink driving and disrupt antisocial behaviour.
Tāmaki Makaurau Police have a number of ongoing enquiries and CCTV footage will be reviewed to capture offending in relation to gang activity in Auckland today.
Anyone that has information relating to the activity are encouraged to report it to Police on 105 if they have not done so already.

The reports related to a very large gang funeral procession involving more than 100 … View moreWe want to let our community know that we've been making follow up enquiries in response to complaints from the public around dangerous driving behaviour across the North Shore on Saturday 7th November.
The reports related to a very large gang funeral procession involving more than 100 motorcycles and 150 vehicles.
Police received more than 40 complaints from the public in relation to dangerous driving activity related to this procession.
The complaints included vehicles being driven on the wrong side of the road, intersections being blocked, passengers sitting outside vehicle windows, dangerous overtaking, motorcyclists not wearing helmets and sustained loss of traction in close proximity to pedestrians.
Over the past few weeks, Waitemata Police have been investigating these complaints and reviewing footage of this activity.
As a result, more than 200 infringement notices have been issued to drivers involved in this gang procession.
More than a dozen vehicles have also been identified as being involved in serious driving offences.
To date, two motorcycles and a car have been impounded by Police and our enquiries are continuing to locate and impound others.
Our investigations are also focused on identifying drivers who may be liable for prosecution.
Police want to acknowledge the North Shore community’s concern around this driving behaviour.
The safety of our community is our number one priority.
Whist we appreciate the family and friends of the young man who passed were grieving, the driving behaviours on display presented a very real risk to those involved as well as other road users and will not be tolerated.
Our message to those partaking in funeral procession rides is to respect and show consideration for other members of the public.
If you choose to put other motorists at risk through dangerous driving activity, such as sustained loss of traction, you can expect follow up action from Police and your vehicle may be impounded.
Anyone with reports of dangerous driving activity is asked to contact Police.
