In the event of an emergency please contact 111
Please be aware that many of our stations are crewed by volunteers so there may not be anyone available to take your call. If this is the case, please leave a message and someone will call you back.
The Timaru and Washdyke Fire Stations: serving Timaru and the wider South Canterbury area.
From 1 July 2017, the former NZ Fire Service and the various volunteer fire forces across the country amalgamated to form Fire and Emergency New Zealand, a large organisation spread throughout NZ, comprising five different regions and hundreds of stations, staffed by a mix of both Career and Volunteer Firefighters. We are here to work together with our communities to reduce the likelihood of unwanted fires, reduce the consequences of emergencies, and to help build resilient communities.
The nature of the emergencies we attend are as varied as the people who call for us. Our communities rely on our people being professionally prepared and capable to respond whenever they are called upon.
Fire and Emergency attend thousands of fire callouts each year, but there's more to us than responding to emergencies; firefighters spend time helping our communities prevent unwanted fires through delivering education programmes, working with building owners, and other community-focused work.
