The Watchmen Community Patrols Residents Patrol Group was established by local Manurewa residents in December 2007 in response to a growing crime trend in Manurewa Residents Patrol renamed to The New Life Watchmen Community Patrol in 2015.The patrol was formed with the assistance of the Manurewa residents who were tired of being afraid in their own homes Our patrol is not sponsored by the council, This allows us a lot more freedom in who we have as patrol officers.We accept those of the community who know the inside and outside of crime and have been reformed into caring residents that just want to give back to their communities. Our patrol is not just there to be crime prevention,We are out there to assist our communities in day to night activities,Such as : helping the elder generation with daily activities,Weekly bread runs in helping the homeless and poverty with food And Clothing, blankets and help and advice Our Patrols are a Night patrol with a full time support Vehicle. That has been sign written with our name and Logo. We patrol in the business and residential areas of Manurewa District of Manukau City, including schools, churches, parks and commercial properties. OUR ROLE The Watchmen Community Patrols an active Night Patrol that acts as a deterrent by being visible in the community advising NGO’s of those in need of help. To assist NZ Police when an extra hand is needed including,roadside assistance, emergencies and traffic control. We notify Police of :Tagging Suspicious behavior. Burglaries and theft Gang activity Assaults Stolen cars Some potential crime can be stopped without wasting Police time That is where a good community response and knowledge of the local people come into our main goal In serving our Communities.The Watchmen are always willing and able to help locals in finding better solutions rather than allowing them to commit criminal activities Patrols are carried out within areas suggested by Community Intel, where recent burglaries,thefts and Violence have occurred.While we are not Directed by the Council,We actively keep them informed of local hot spots and high crime areas That they pass on to the law. This role entails ringing in and or recording:Graffiti Damage to roads Damage to street signs Damage to council parks Damage to Telecom utility equipment Damage to Vector utility equipment Understanding with Emergency Services Community Patrols while having the understanding with the community in assisting them with day to day activities. The Watchmen Community Patrols also has an understanding with the Police and Emergency services here as in full.The Watchmen Community Patrols will report, share and collaborate with Police and Emergency services on crime hot spots and high effected areas, all information pertaining to any criminal, emergency situation The Watchmen Community Patrols only assist Police and Emergency services when asked to do so via that service.The Watchmen Community Patrols does not work for or is associated to working for the Police or Emergency services but are only to assist in community based activities.The Watchmen Community Patrols offer:Road closures Citizens arrest assistance Traffic duty Witness Reports Crowd and Incident Control Information sharing Assisting in search and rescue Assisting in civil defense emergencies The Watchmen Community Patrol has this understanding with Police and Emergency services to assist them in community activities.If you like to support the work we do by giving a donation towards petrol costs please give to our covering charitable trust:Manukau New Life Community Trust 02-0358-0053406-00In the reference please put WCP and your details so a receipt can be issued to you for tax deductions.
