Over 51 years ago, the Waikanae Lions was chartered, marking its establishment since 1973. Today, we boast a diverse group of 53 members from various backgrounds. Our team is passionate, enjoys camaraderie, and has fun while contributing to our community. We invite you to peruse our monthly bulletins available on this website, which offer a glimpse into our activities and the enjoyment we derive from them.
We warmly welcome new members, both male and female. If you're interested in joining us or wish to learn more about the Lions, please reach out to one of our members listed in the "Contact Us" section or send us an email.

The Club takes great pride in its history of supporting the Waikanae community, which has shown a high level of engagement in our projects. Since 1973, it is estimated that our Club has contributed over $1.5 million..
Annually we also host the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band concert which is held in the Southwards Theatre Paraparaumu. The concerts are very popular and sell out. The 2022, 2023 and 2024 concerts, held in May or June each year raised $28,000 and the money was donated to the Wellington Free Ambulance, Wellington Life Flight Trust, and Mary Potter Hospice respectively. Other annual major fundraisers are: the Super Garden Trail of Waikanae residental gardens in January, the Monster Garage Sale in July, and the Spring Fertiliser Sale. These are just some of our many activities.
In addition to our own specific projects, we also strongly participate in the annual combined Kapiti Lions Book Fairs, which has available in excess of 60,000 books for sale in May and October of each year, and over 20 years has raised nearly $800,000 . The funds raised from the book fair is shared between the four Lions Clubs in Kapiti for distribution to their nominated charities. In December we host a community Christmas lunch for senior citizens.
The Club meets for its regular Dinner Meetings on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at the Waikanae Community Hall, Pehi Kupa Street, Waikanae at 6 pm.
