Karori Arts & Crafts Centre Inc. (KACC) has been operating as an informal arts and crafts society since 1966. In the early days the groups met in church halls or each other’s homes to share their interests and companionship. In November 1993 The Newman Centre was built as a result of the generosity of long time members, Dorothy and Stanley Newman. KACC is now a charitable trust and the centre has been designed so that the members have a purpose built facility in which to meet and pursue their various talents and skills, from painting and drawing, photography to quilting, embroidery, cardmaking and many more. They can also exhibit their work up to twice a year in the Art & Photography or Craft Exhibitions and some years, the Art & Craft Market. Members can attend any of the regular group activities noted on the next page. They also receive priority access to classes and workshops.
