Enjoy a family day out in Highwic’s beautiful garden where we will be combining garden themes with all the fun of the festive season:
Musical entertainment, including Cathie Harrop and Harp Companions, carol singers, Kumeu Brass and popular local gypsy jazz band; Café, Bar - featuring beer from Behemoth and a brand new Highwic inspired cocktail, Floral headdress workshop, Books, Preserves, Plant Stalls, Raffle with exciting prizes, Children’s Activities including writing a letter to Santa, Christmas decoration workshop and a free lucky dip for every child!

Disabled parking available on site; plenty of parking available in Wilson or Westfield buildings nearby. The Mortimer Pass entrance is a 5 minute walk from Newmarket Station, or catch a bus to Broadway. There is a bus stop directly outside the Gillies Avenue entrance.

Highwic is open again and back to our normal opening hours of 10.30am to 4.30pm.
While we are still at level one we would like to assure our visitors that we are putting in place measures to prevent the risk of infection such as enhanced cleaning, limiting numbers allowed in the house at any one time, hand-sanitising stations, track and trace registers, clear signage.
All visits will be self-guided. The gardens are looking lovely at the moment as can be seen by the photos from Alfred's fashion photoshoot today!

Visit Highwic and step back in time as you try your hand at making something yummy that will be baked on our authentic Victorian coal range in the 1863 kitchen.
On selected days our coal fired stove will be lit and in operation with our kitchen volunteers cooking up something yummy from original Victorian recipes. Try out freshly-made cakes, biscuits and seasonally themed goodies.

Be sure to check our website to find additional dates when the coal range is running during special events and school holiday programmes. Session runs 11am - 2pm.
