Heart disease causes 31% of all deaths each year in New Zealand and about 3,000 of these are premature . . . . they could be saved with better knowledge of a heart attack, and greater education on heart disease.

If you are a heart patient or heart event survivor, come along and meet people with the same life-changing condition in a friendly, informal and engaging informative way. You will learn a lot, and it may save your life.

Heartbeats is all about 'by the patient, for the patient' and we are committed to helping heart people everywhere lead longer and full lives.

Beat the heart attack before it starts - 10,000 people die of heart disease in New Zealand each year and over 3,000 premature deaths from heart disease could be saved with better knowledge of heart disease, pending heart attack symptoms and where to go for help.
Trent Lash, heart patient and founder of the largest community-led, peer-to-peer heart support group in New Zealand, will share with you what a heart attack looks like and why high blood pressure is a major issue. He will explain how heart disease mortality rates are as high as ALL cancers combined, and what help is available in the community and the healthcare sector, for heart patients.

Heartbeats cardiac support group for Heart Patients and Heart Event Survivors meets at Sunnynook Community Centre this evening at 7pm.

Heartbeats is the largest community-led, peer-peer support group for heart patients and 'heart people' in Aotearoa New Zealand. We offer mental wellbeing support, education and cardiac rehabilitation to heart event survivors everywhere. We are a non-profit, friendly and diverse group with all sorts of heart conditions.

Come along, bring a family member or a friend and meet other heart people who have experienced the same thing as yourself.. Its FREE and everyone is welcome.
