Like the Seasons our Lives Shift and Change • Families separate • We lose someone we love • We experience life-changing trauma Seasons for Growth is a grief and loss education program that uses the imagery of the seasons to illustrate the experience of grief, which has been run with great success in Australia and New Zealand for a number of years. It aims to strengthen the social and emotional wellbeing of children (6-12) young people (13-18) as well as adults, by: • Exploring the impact of change and loss on everyday life. • Learning new ways to respond to these changes Trained adult companions facilitate the small group program over 8 weeks, where participants support and learn from each other in age appropriate and engaging activities. People learn that they are not alone in dealing with the effects of change, loss and grief and build their understanding, communication, decision making and problem-solving skills within a supportive peer group. We run children's, young peoples and teen groups in schools, and have afterschool programs in Howick. Adult programs are run each term.
