Greening the Red Zone is a community organisation campaigning to turn as much of the Avon River red zone as possible into an indigenous forest, bush, and wetland park. We consistently highlight the benefits of improved mental and physical health, flood protection, cleaner air, cleaner rivers, and the return of many of our forest birds to Christchurch.
Our Dark Sky Park group is campaigning to create a complementary dark sky park throughout the red zone, with all the health benefits, benefits to native plants and animals, and increased visibility of stars that will bring.
