We are looking for someone to build a connection with a young man who likes, woodwork/carpentry, computer coding and gaming. It is his first year out of school and his disability and mental health means that he would thrive having someone alongside him when he is out and about or to chat with on the days when things are a little rough. Someone who can promote social skills, healthy living and independence.

If you love to make a genuine connection with others and know you are making a positive impact this could be the role for you. We need someone who is compassionate, calm and able to adjust their style to match this young man when his energy is low.

Some understanding of mental health and Aspergers would be an advantage. The role is about 5 hours a week, ideally during the day, but we can be flexible for the right person. Driver’s licence and own vehicle.

If this sounds like the job you have been looking for, we would love to chat with you. Please email jobs@flyingkites.org.nz or send me a message

🔶Are you a solutions person, who makes the most of the situation at hand?

An older gentleman is looking for some advice and support in his week. He has a mild disability and needs someone to support him with activities outside of his comfort zone - like trying new foods, dealing with his landlord or explaining things to the doctor.

He is a social and capable man, who needs a push in the right direction when things get outside of his routine. If you love to chat, to share advice and know when to encourage and when to step back, then this role is for you. If two hours of chatting and supporting someone would top your week off nicely then get in touch. Ideally you would be available on Tuesday and/or Thursday to share a cup of tea and a bit of inspiration – but we are pretty flexible for the right person.

If you are interested please email jobs@flyingkites.org.nz or send me a message. The role pays $24 - $30 per hour and is based in Mangere Bridge.

Our ideal candidate would be someone kind, engaging and sensible. We are looking for someone to support a quiet and peaceful 22 year old woman with an intellectual disability. She needs someone to help her in the afternoons. This role is a beautiful balance between practical and relationship focused.

This young lady needs help with practical tasks like showering and getting dressed, but she also needs someone to spend her afternoons with. Things like helping around the house and chatting about the day, having some fun, while building a trusting relationship. On a Monday she is looking for an activity buddy, to head to the library, dance class or to do some baking.

This role is Monday 10am – 3pm and Tuesday to Friday from 4pm – 5.30pm in Botany, with some flexibility for the right person. These hours could be all done by one person or shared by two. There may be some hours on a Saturday as well if you want them.

If you are interested please get in touch, we would love to chat to you about the opportunity: email jobs@flyingkites.org.nz or send me a message

Are you looking for a people focused night shift role?
A young disabled man is looking for your help!

He lives at home with his family and needs quite a bit of support to look after his wellbeing and keep him engaged. We are looking for someone to take on a night support role so his parents can sleep knowing someone else is there to support him. He is a fun and engaging guy, who needs someone around him to keep him safe.

The night shift role involves supporting him to get ready for bed, overseeing his medication and then doing some tasks while he sleeps. He has some fancy technology in place, that someone needs to keep an eye on – no experience needed, just someone to listen for a warning beep and respond if needed. Basically, this role requires someone patient, compassionate and able to pay attention when needed. When he doesn’t sleep you two can watch TV, play games or you can read to him.

The shifts are 7pm – 7am, we can be flexible around what days you would like to work, but we need someone 3 or 4 days per week.

There are day shifts available to support him after school and in the weekends if that suits your schedule better.

If you are interested please email jobs@flyingkites.org.nz or send me a message

🪁 Do you enjoy getting out and about, visiting parks, riding bikes and keeping busy outside?

🪁 Are you looking for 15 – 20 hours of work a week in the afternoons and weekends?

We are looking for someone to support an 8 year old boy after school and in the weekends. He loves animals, playgrounds and biking and your role will be to take him out to explore the area around his home in Flatbush. This young boy has autism, which fuels his love of sensory play (like water and playdough) and means that he communicates with actions more than words.

You need a full drivers licence, a vehicle and enthusiasm to run around and share in the fun with him. We are looking for two people to help across the week, in the afternoons approximately 3pm – 7pm and for 6-8 hour shifts in the weekend. If you could help with a few or a lot of those hours each week we would love to chat with you.

If you are interested please email jobs@flyingkites.org.nz or send me a message.
