We are local people wanting to age well in our own homes and communities. We are encouraging others to do likewise, and will work together to reduce isolation and vulnerability among kaumātua/seniors by • building community connections across generations to enhance well-being • focusing on contribution and mutual support • working alongside clubs, marae, community organisations Members of all ages will share time and skills, either individually or in small groups. This could include transport, home maintenance, baking, recording histories, or gardening. Where people are isolated, a coordinator will support them to consider what a good life might look like for them. Our database will have information on community organisations, on people with skills and time to share, and approved tradespeople who can ensure homes are well maintained. There are many ways people can support one another so we will be flexible, seeking ways to fill gaps that arise. For a copy of our full proposal, contact one of the committee.
