If you want to help keep boaties safe on the water (and whether or not you're a boatie yourself), consider a role with the highly professional Operations Centre team as a volunteer Radio Operator.

Coastguard is the charity saving lives at sea, and is almost entirely staffed by over 2,000 dedicated volunteers from communities across the country. Last year the Operations Centre in Mechanics Bay logged 114,738 VHF radio calls from boaties making trip reports, kept watch on over 17,805 bar crossings, and coordinated search and rescue responses to bring 5,407 boaties back home to safety.

By becoming a volunteer, you can be part of a close-knit team dedicated to saving lives at sea. Your contribution may one day save the life of a boatie in need.
