The Cancer Society North Canterbury Centre opened in February 2020 to meet the needs of our district for Cancer Patients and Carers by providing invaluable support services. Being diagnosed with cancer can be one of the most difficult situations a person would ever face in their lifetime. The Cancer Society provides one-on-one emotional and practical support to people with cancer, their family/whanau and friends, including:

  • Listening to your questions and concerns.
  • Offering quality support services and advocacy following a cancer diagnosis.
  • Suggesting ways to cope with uncertainty.
  • Connect you with other support organisations or networks.
  • Provide information about accommodation and transport services.

We receive no direct government funding and rely on the generosity of New Zealanders to provide these services, therefore the Centre also co-ordinates fundraising and promotional events to raise awareness and vital funds for the organisation.
