Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust (ARHT)

Community Organisation

The Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust’s (ARHT) two Westpac Rescue Helicopters are staffed full-time by a highly experienced flight crew consisting of Pilots, Intensive Care Flight Paramedics and Crewmen, and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. During daylight hours it is also complemented by a HEMS (Helicopter Medical Emergency Service) Doctor from ADHB, effectively bringing the hospital to the patient. The ARHT is also the only service in NZ which carries whole blood on board the helicopter, enabling the medical crew to perform blood transfusions in-situ or enroute to hospital.

The crews attend over 1,000 rescue missions every year, covering an area as far north as Te Hana and as far south as Raglan, including the Gulf Islands and Thames/Coromandel region.

The Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust is a charity, so greatly appreciate the support of the community to help save lives.
