Auckland 1025.

A grand, 1863, timber mansion with Indian influenced verandahs and turrets, Mt Albert's Alberton is one of Auckland's finest historic buildings. The home of prominent colonial family, the Kerr Taylors, it was renowned in the 19th century for its balls, hunts, garden parties and music.

Now run by Heritage New Zealand, the house is open to the public 5 days a week and hosts a range of events, exhibitions, children's activities and the occasional high tea. A visit to the house is a memorable step back in time.

The house is also available to hire for weddings and special events.  A selection of cards, receyled vintage china jewellery, homewears and trinkets are stocked in our quaint gift shop The Verandah Store. Garden plants and Alberton honey locally produced by bees on the Mt Albert Grammar School farm are also available.

Free entry to the garden and shop. Alberton welcomes strollers, dogs and their walkers and picnicers!

Open Wednesday-Sunday 10:30-4:30
