Bloom Pukekohe Op Shop - 1st Anniversary

Janet Wallington from Bloom Pukekohe Op Shop

✨Can you believe that this Saturday 21st February we will be celebrating 1 year of the Bloom Pukekohe Op Shop being open! ✨
To celebrate, from Friday 20th February – Monday 23rd February we will have daily $1 sales! Watch our social media to find out more and see what each day’s special will be!

Right now though we would like to take a moment to reflect on what an incredible year it has been. From the very first day we opened our doors, our shop has been more than just a place to find pre-loved treasures — it has become a vibrant, welcoming space where community happens.

It has been such a pleasure getting to know our wonderful customers and meet members of the community from all walks of life. Your support, encouragement, donations, and friendly conversations have meant the world to us. Every purchase made and every item donated helps us continue the meaningful work we do.

Most importantly, this year has been filled with proud moments as we’ve watched our participants grow in confidence, learn new skills, and truly thrive. Through sorting, merchandising, customer service, creative displays, and teamwork, they are gaining real-world experience and discovering just how capable they are. Seeing that growth is what it’s all about.

To our staff and team of incredible volunteers — thank you for your time, heart and commitment. To our loyal customers — thank you for choosing to shop with purpose. To our wider community — thank you for embracing what we do.

We are so grateful to be part of Pukekohe and can’t wait to see what the next year brings! Ngā mihi nu nui ✨

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
