Blue climber....Asarina...thumb sized blue flowers..pot

Joan from Masterton District

This is a dainty little climber with thumb sized blue flowers that flower all Summer. I have one here in a pot which is coming along nicely.

Name: Asarina.

It has been growing in a shady fairly damp situation so would need some shelter from the sun till it gets established and plenty of water.
It can be a bit frost tender. It does well growing up and verandah pole, or fence, trellis or archway. Ive had it growing in hanging baskets as well.

I've never seen it sold in Garden shops though Ive grown it for many decades.
It can self seed with little plants, but is not invasive in any way. It is easily controlled .
It should flower for you this year.
Ive included photos of the parent plant, and the plant for sale is in the square pot.

Thanks for looking.

Got more greens than you know what to do with? 🥦🌱🥕

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Whether it’s a courgette takeover or a feijoa frenzy, don’t let those garden gems go to waste!

Our suggestion to you: Did you know you can grate and freeze excess courgettes to use in chocolate cake later? It sounds a bit dodgy, but it makes the cake incredibly moist ... and hey, it counts as a serving of veg, right? 🍫

💡 A Little Brain Buzz for You⚡

The Riddler from The Neighbourly Riddler

I have two faces, but show you only one.
I once had guests, but now have none.
I’m rarely bloody and seldom blue.
I’m often promised and sometimes new

(Trev from Tamatea kindly provided this head-scratcher ... thanks, Trev!)
