To the delight of Gordonton locals, after twenty years Michele Bishop has set up shop where she first entered the hospitality world.
Bishop founded MatteBlack Cafe & Catering eight years ago, but that wasn’t the start of her hospo journey. Originally a stay-at-home mum, when her son started school twenty years ago, Bishop jumped into a new challenge and opened a cafe in Gordonton.

‘Simply irresponsible’: Wallaby likely kept as pet in Hamilton, regional council says
A wallaby spotted in Hamilton was probably kept as a pet, the regional council says - and that’s “simply irresponsible”.
The dama wallaby, which had an immature joey in its pouch, was spotted in Frankton on March 3, reported and killed, Waikato Regional Council says.
