Two months after Tokoroa teacher Jayleb-Che Dean mysteriously disappeared while swimming near Rotorua, police have added his name to the country’s missing persons list.
Dean’s family say it’s a step they’ve been “praying for, hoping for, and pushing toward” even though they say it’s taken “far too long” for his name to officially appear on the list.

‘Simply irresponsible’: Wallaby likely kept as pet in Hamilton, regional council says
A wallaby spotted in Hamilton was probably kept as a pet, the regional council says - and that’s “simply irresponsible”.
The dama wallaby, which had an immature joey in its pouch, was spotted in Frankton on March 3, reported and killed, Waikato Regional Council says.
