Unveiling Memorial Beach Seat athlete Marise Chamberlain in New Brighton

Paul from Phillipstown

I'm herewith the intermediary messenger of the message from Marise's daughter Marissa Stephen who was a 400m specialist who ran at the Oceania Games, coached by Marise, who became an Oceania 4x400m champion. Her other daughter, Louise had also run under Valdy Briedis, her mother’s longtime coach.
It's history unfolding for New Zealand and people from afar who can't attend will know what is being done for posterity purposes-Paul

An Invitation;
On Thursday 4th December 2025 1.30pm - 3.30pm there is to be an unveiling of a memorial beach seat that the CCC is erecting and the naming of the beach access track to it for my mother Olympian #166 Marise Chamberlain (MNZM) 1935-2024.
This is a tribute to her legacy as a trailblazing figure in World and New Zealand women's athletics and sport.
A memorial celebration of her sporting life will commence at the South Brighton Surf Club at 1.30pm followed by attendees walking to the adjacent seat location on the beach for cutting of a ribbon.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
