Elections
When are the local election? Has anybody heard anything about their local people who are standing? I have had one lot of info from Papakura Action Team, that's all, very appreciated. Where are all the others. Does anyone know anything about who is standing for Mayor apart from our current Mayor who is standing again. We use to get information about the local candidates in our local papers, now we don't even receive a local paper. So where are we to get all the info we need to look at, not 2/3 days before the election and not from the Computer, not all our Seniors don't use the computer for those reason Do you really expect people more people to vote this elections, I'd be very surprised.
Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
60.1% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
23.4% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
16.5% ... It is complicated

Illegal dumping
This is awful how people just disregard bylaws. dump their rubbish in parks and waterways to try get away with having to pay dumping costs at the rubbish dumps and transfer stations. This also can cause flooding again due to blocking the grate of the culvert in Princes street. No thought for neighbours or damage that can be caused by their actions.
