One adult. One hour. One kid who’ll never forget it.

Julian Bishop from Volunteer Great Lake Taupō

🧒🏽✨ It only takes one hour a week to change a young life.
He Kāhui Tāngata is a youth mentoring programme right here in the Taupō district — and they’re looking for everyday legends to help light the way 💛
This kaupapa pairs young people aged 9–12 with caring adults who can offer a steady presence, a listening ear, and a bit of encouragement.

You don’t need special training, a flash career, or a long CV.
You just need to show up, consistently, and care.
🕐 Just 1 hour a week
👂 A commitment to listen
✅ A clear police check
❤️ And a whole lot of heart
📍Come meet the team at COMAVOL 2025 and find out how you can get involved.
Because sometimes, the most powerful thing you can give… is your time.

Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
