Seniors Day Out - SDO

SENIORS DAY OUT

đź›’ Pro Tip for Seniors Shopping for One đź’ś

Losing a loved one changes so many daily routines—including grocery shopping. If you're now buying for one instead of two, here are some ways to make it easier:

✨ Shop with a friend – Turn grocery shopping into a social outing to make it feel less overwhelming.

🥦 Buy fresh but in smaller quantities – This helps avoid waste while still enjoying fresh produce.

🛍️ Use the deli & bulk bins – Buy only what you need instead of pre-packaged portions.
🍲 Cook & freeze meals – Prepare meals in advance so you have easy, home-cooked options ready.

💡 Try meal kits or smaller portion services – These can help simplify cooking without excess leftovers.

Most importantly, be kind to yourself—adjusting takes time. 💜

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
