🚧 LANE CLOSURES in Bishopdale and Papanui during February

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

There will be lane closures at two locations:
☀️Daytime lane closure at Sawyers Arms Road railway crossing – two-way traffic will be maintained with stop/go traffic lights
📅 10 Feb to 28 Feb, 7am to 7pm. No impact during the evening/night

🌙 Nighttime lane closure at Langdons Road railway crossing – westbound one-way traffic, with eastbound traffic detoured via Chapel Street
📅 3–5 nights, from 16 Feb to 20 Feb, 7pm to 6am. No impact during the day, as large steel plates will be placed over the trench

What are they working on?
Sawyers Arms Road: We’re making upgrades at the railway crossing that will improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians using the Northern Line cycleway. See the works notice here: ccc.govt.nz...
Langdons Road: We’re relocating an underground watermain pipe. See the works notice here: ccc.govt.nz...

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

🌿 Ōtukaikino Memorial Service Changes 🌿

Manager from Lamb & Hayward

This year marks a change, whereby Lamb and Hayward will no longer hold the usual Memorial Service in February at Ōtukaikino “The Living Memorial”. Instead, Lamb and Hayward will now host a Memorial Weekend in the spring.

This new format will include a tree dedication, followed by optional planting activities and guided tours of the site.

Created in 1992 with the Department of Conservation, The Living Memorial is a 13-hectare native wetland where a tree is planted for every funeral service conducted by Lamb & Hayward. It remains a peaceful space of remembrance for families, with the Angel Rock continuing as the resting place for Angels from our Christmas to Remember services.
