Volunteer companion - Opotiki Region
Alzheimers Eastern Bay of Plenty - (supported by Volunteering Services)
Visit an older person living with dementia in the Ōpōtiki region once a week for a visit of at least an hour. This social interaction helps reduce the social isolation and loneliness for the person, and is purely social in focus.
The organisation is looking for both men and women who are able to commit to long-term (at least 6 months) visiting as continuity and relationship building is a valuable aspect of the role.
There is flexibility around the weekly time commitment so if you are interested with a friendly and empathetic attitude for life then please get in touch!
What we need from you:
You should be situated in or near the Ōpōtiki district as the role requires travel to clients around the region. You must possess the right to work in New Zealand and a willingness to undergo police vetting and additional checks in order to be considered for this position.
