Not out by Christmas - pensioner stays past eviction date
He was formally given an eviction notice to be out by Christmas Day from his digs at Te Aroha commercial premises.
But 74-year-old pensioner Dave Stewart - a recent bowel cancer survivor with two colostomy bags and failing eyesight - confirmed on Monday he’s staying put for now.
And his landlords say they aren’t doing anything to enforce the eviction notice, said to have been given as a result of local council pressure as he was living in a commercial zone.
