What do you think about Kaitāia Airport's future being secured?
Kaitāia Airport's future is now secure and a planned protest has been called off, after two Te Hiku iwi agreed to work together to secure the land the airport sits on.
Ngāi Takoto has agreed to buy the site and return the land to relevant hapū, including Ngāti Kahu hapū Patukoraha, Ngāi Tohianga and Te Paatu.
The agreement also ensures the airport remains for at least 35 years, enabling investment into the crucial infrastructure to restart and securing the airport for the likes of specialists.
