SH1 & SH46 closed

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The road closures follow a night of snow showers, which MetService expected to develop above 900 meters from midnight on Thursday. Snow is predicted to accumulate on the roads until 11am.

Here's what you need to know:
- State Highway 1 on Desert Road between Rangipo and Waiouru is closed due to snow.
- State Highway 46 between Tongariro and Rangipo is also closed due to snow.
- Possible detours are via SH3, SH4, SH47 and SH41 but these detours will add at least 1.5 hours to your journey.

SH3 is also closed at Awakino, between Maunganui Rd and Awakau Rd, due to a significant underslip. This closure is expected to be in place until Friday, May 12 according to Waka Kotahi.

Keep up to date with road closures on the Waka Kotahi website.
