Did you know nine endangered kiwi were recently returned to Tongariro Forest?
Twenty years ago, kiwi chicks were removed from Tongariro Forest to breed in the protection of predator-free Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari, near Cambridge.
Now their offspring have been returned to their whenua in a special ceremony. And it's the first of what's expected to be several large-scale releases.
