Silverstream School murals
Pupils at Silverstream School have been busy creating two murals. Artist Joe McMenamin ran a workshop for pupils, who helped with one of the murals. The main mural (tūī) can be found at the entrance on Whitemans Road and the poppies mural that the kids helped create is near the flag pole. The poppy mural will provide a backdrop forr future ANZAC ceremonies.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
