Thoughtless Neighbours

Dave from Shirley

About 12.45 today outside 17 Sanctuary Gardens one of our rescue cats Mollie was run down by a thoughtless neighbour. The saddening thing is that this neighbour did not even have the decency to stop and inform us of the accident. This was all captured on our CCTV camera system with the older white Toyota car making no attempt to stop after running over our cat. I will be reviewing the CCTV footage to get the full make and registration of the car. When I got to Mollie she was still alive but died whilst I was holding her in my arms. I would have thought that the driver would have felt the bump of running over her and would have stopped. I will be keeping a lookout for this car in our neighbourhood and will be having a stern word with them.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
