Street Tree Love

The Team from Pest Free Kaipātiki Restoration Society (Inc.)

We invite you to adopt a street tree over summer, as it's the season where they face the most stress.

We will give you tips about avoiding mower damage, how to mulch and water to give our trees the best support. We will also help you find out more about the type of tree that you are caring for and what you can expect from it as it grows, flowers and fruits.

Street trees have been planted by Auckland Council for everyone to enjoy. They are aiming to increase the number of streets with trees on their verges as part of their Urban Ngahere plan.

By caring for a tree you are caring for a piece of the environment that belongs to all Aucklanders, for their benefit and the benefit of the wonderful wildlife that we share this city with. A healthy street tree contributes hugely to our environment in many ways.

Email enquiries@pestfreekaipatiki.org.nz to sign up so that we can ensure there aren’t any double-ups, please include your name, your street name and STL in the subject line. Head to our website for more information.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Night-time chipsealing works on SH2

NZ Transport Agency (NZTA)

From 9 to 17 February, stop/go traffic management will be in place on SH2 between McPherson Road and Dimmock Road on multiple nights between 9pm and 5am (Sundays to Thursdays).

During the day, all lanes will be open, but speed restrictions will apply to allow the chipseal to set and to protect vehicles travelling over the newly laid surface.

There may be delays to your journey when travelling through the area. This is weather dependent so check NZTA Journey Planner before you travel.
