Mangaweka Fakes & Forgeries Township - Festival of Events 2021

Richard from Mangaweka

After many requests from the Districts Schools, we have finally decided on a date for the Mangaweka Village Fakes & Forgeries Festival of Events 2021! This will now be on Saturday 23 October (Covid permitting) Labour Weekend 2021.

There will be the 'Combined Schools Art Exhibition' in the Village Hall, a Massive Book-Fair in the Fire station, Markets in the Museum grounds, The under and over 16's exhibition at the 'Yellow Church' and a Town-wide 'series of 'Garage Sales' amongst other fun happenings on the day!

Last year the Garage Sale was a massive hit and for those wishing to run one again (or for the first time!) on the day, please contact Cath Ash via e-mail at; cr.cath.ash@gmail.com (there will also be market sites in the Museum grounds for 'out of towners' wishing to hold a stall).

The Book Fairs have also attracted large numbers (and sales!) and we are hoping for the same this year. Also, anyone wishing to donate books (no magazines thanks) all for a good cause (Mangaweka Heritage) can drop these off at the Yellow Church on any week-end preceding the event OR those who may wish to volunteer some help at the Book-Fair on the day please contact Alison at; adorrian@xtra.co.nz .

The under 16yrs and over 16's exhibition will be at the Yellow Church and full details can be found at www.richardaslett.co.nz... There is still plenty of time to get creating your Masterpiece to enter, (entries close Sun 17 October) so get to it... and have some fun along the way!

We look forward to seeing you all on the 23rd of October!!!

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
