Soroptimists providing North Shore Women an Educate to Lead Award

Sylvia Heywood from Soroptimist International North Shore

This is a unique education grant in partnership with Soroptimist International San Diego for women who provide the primary financial support for their families.

The award will support a woman who is the primary financial carer for their family; and gives some financial support to further their education, skills and employment prospects in the future. The recipient may use the funds provided in any way which directly supports her costs to support her to attain higher education skills or formal qualifications. This may include, but is not restricted to fees, books, transport or tuition, therefore enabling the recipient to focus on her studies rather than the challenge of some of the costs involved.

Applications close 15 August.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
