Become an Amateur Radio Operator
The Manawatu Amateur Radio Society is running 11 weekly beginners classes starting in May culminating in a weekend activity in August where participants can sit their Amateur Radio Operators Certificate which consists of 60 multi-choice questions. Amateur Radio is now a fast growing field of communications which encompasses tradition radio communications through to computer based digital, micro-computers and satellite communications - there is something for everyone interested in electronics, communications and technology in general. Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
