Consent granted to demolish historic WWII Marines Hall
The last roadblock to demolishing the historic Marines Hall in Tītahi Bay has been removed.
After being deemed structurally unsafe in 2012, Porirua City Council voted to demolish the building in 2014 and submitted a resource consent to carry this out in 2020.
Independent commissioners Mark St Clair and David McMahon met in December to review the consent and have given the demolition the green light.
Porirua Mayor Anita Baker said the decision was a good one for Tītahi Bay, and she looked forward to seeing what would be built on the site.
