Help keep Beach Haven & Birkdale pest plant free - join us 9.30am Monday 7 December at the Cresta Ave Car Park

Secretary from Pest Free Kaipatiki

Hi - do you live in the area around Cresta Ave and Shepherds Park? Could you help local volunteers control pest plants which are bad for your health and for our environment?

Please check your section - particularly along the boundary - and your street for these weeds. They will soon be seeding - it's quickest and most effective to control them now before they spread more widely around our homes and parks.

Take this opportunity to talk with your neighbours to get on top of these pest plants. For more information about how you can tackle weeds on your property or street, go to this website: www.pestfreekaipatiki.org.nz...

If you see these weeds and can't deal with them, please send details of the street address and location to PestPlants@pestfreekaipatiki.org.nz - if possible please talk to the land owner or occupant and give us their contact details.

And if you are free on Monday morning, please come along and join us - we'd love to work with you to help make your neighbourhood more eco-friendly and beautiful.

Most of our volunteers will be working hi-vis jackets with "Pest Free Kaipatiki" on the back. But if you have any questions about what our volunteers are doing, please phone 021-240-9414.

And don't forget if you want to control rats and possums, see the page www.pestfreekaipatiki.org.nz...

Poll: Should complete designs be shared with the public, or should the community help shape the designs from the start?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Post recently shared an opinion piece on the Harbour Crossing and why a more democratic approach might be needed 🚗🚲👟

While most decisions sit within the political arena, many organisations—like NZTA—manage long-term projects that go beyond party lines. Politics can sometimes disrupt progress, and the next Harbour Crossing is a big decision that will affect all Aucklanders.

We’d love your thoughts: Should near-complete, shovel-ready designs be shared with the public, or should the community have a hand in shaping the designs from the start?

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
