Council Promise
Hi everyone - HDC promised us that it would name a closure date for the Levin landfill by the end of the year. The landfill is causing environmental damage and much distress to Hokio residents and is releasing toxic gases into the air that all Levin residents are actually breathing in ....and here it is nearly the end of November! Some of us are waiting with great anticipation to hear this piece of information. Unlike certain American leaders our Kiwi leaders keep their promises! Come on councillors don't keep us in suspense. When?

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
