Blind passenger told he can't bring seeing-eye poodle on bus
A blind Wellington man is “spitting tacks” after being told his guide dog was not allowed on a bus because the driver did not believe poodles could be guide dogs.
George Taggart was boarding at a bus stop outside the Blind Foundation offices on Adelaide Rd, along with three women, who were also blind, when he was told his large white poodle Guss was not allowed on board.
Taggart was also carrying an identity card confirming that he was blind, which includes a picture of Guss.
Metlink has apologised and said it would ensure drivers are aware of the rules.
