Upper Hutt Elvis fan wants more impersonators
If you have dreamed of being an Elvis impersonator Kathy Finau wants to hear from you.
A life long Elvis fan, Finau has been running competition for impersonators for 15 years. Entrants come from all over Australasia to strut their stuff at the Upper Hutt Cosmopolitan Club.
The competition runs from October 17 to 19, and entries close the week before.
The youngest competitor is 18-year-old Aucklander Jarrod Shirtcliffe. He discovered a passion for Elvis after enjoying the Grease soundtrack, and began listening to other music from that era.
Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
