Annual Plan
We’ve made big savings from some parts of our budget while adding support for businesses and community groups identified through consultation on our annual plan.
Among other initiatives, we’re offering free on-street parking in the city centre until November to support retailers facing a post-COVID economy.
Funding has been added to our budget for economic development, community services, sustainability, the free parking initiative and other areas identified by the public during consultation.
Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
