Making great spaces to live in commercial areas
Living in a flat above shops in a commercial area can be great – but equally not if the flat is too small, with no private outdoor living space, or insufficient privacy. We’re proposing to add rules in the city plan around residential activities in the commercial zone to ensure they deliver better outcomes for residents. As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
