SLOW DOWN, please

Diane from Castor Bay

SLOW DOWN, please. On Monday evening/night-Tuesday morning our beloved 1yr old cat Spike was hit and killed by a car at the bottom of Heathcote Rd. We of course are devastated to loose our precious fur baby, who we have only had for 9 months. I know cats are notorious for running out on roads and getting hit/hurt/killed but I can't help but think that if the car that hit her was going slower around the corner from Seaview Rd or across from Commodore Parry up into Heathcote Rd, she would have had time to get across, out of the way and would still be alive today. I know cars speed around that corner, it is wide, and up the short sharp hill to the first corner, sometimes infact all the way, we hear at least one car regularly racing up from the bottom of the Heathcote Road, but I feel she should have had time to escape as it was 5-10 meters from the corner. Sadly that was not the case so, to save another cat and their family from heartache I implore you all to please slow down when you come into Heathcote Rd and don't be tempted by the wide access to put your foot down and speed up the hill. Thank you.

Scam Alert: Bank cold calls

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

ASB is warning customers about reports of cold calls from scammers claiming to be from ASB. These scammers are trying to obtain personal information, including usernames, dates of birth, and verification codes sent to your mobile phone.

🛡️ The "Caller Check" Test
If you get a call from someone claiming to be from ASB and you’re unsure, just ask them for a Caller Check. You will then be able to verify the call through the app.

Remember, banks will:
❌ Never ask for your banking passwords, PINs, or verification codes
❌ Never need to know your full credit card number – especially the CVC
❌ Never ask you to download software or remotely access your device
❌ Never ask you to purchase gift cards or transfer funds.

If you have received a phone call and think your account has been compromised, call ASB on 0800 ASB FRAUD (0800 272 372), or visit your local branch.
