What's on: Plant Power - 12 February 6:30pm - Grey Lynn

Brian from Westmere

The time has come for Conscious Action to take another look at plants and their power!

During this event we’ll be joined by knowledgeable and passionate speakers to celebrate the diversity and deliciousness of plants, get some top tips on how to grow our own plant kingdoms and learn more about how we can thrive on a plant-based diet.

We’ll explore the importance of growing our food, especially for those of us living in cities, as well as the core reasons why a growing number of us are choosing to eat more plants - environmental, ethical or health.

We are looking forward to hear from our guest speakers Sarah Tanner, vegan influencer who’s trying to weave in a little more eco consciousness, and Judy Keats AKA Green sister, Organics Educator, City Farm Manager, Permaculture Practitioner and Compost Facilitator.

Come along to meet like-minded individuals, join an interactive discussion, sharing and action setting on how you can have an impact.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Night-time chipsealing works on SH2

NZ Transport Agency (NZTA)

From 9 to 17 February, stop/go traffic management will be in place on SH2 between McPherson Road and Dimmock Road on multiple nights between 9pm and 5am (Sundays to Thursdays).

During the day, all lanes will be open, but speed restrictions will apply to allow the chipseal to set and to protect vehicles travelling over the newly laid surface.

There may be delays to your journey when travelling through the area. This is weather dependent so check NZTA Journey Planner before you travel.
