The Look Out! Performing Arts & Entertainment Guide

Richard from Awapuni

2020 is off to a flyer! This week, the Look Out! Performing Arts and Entertainment Guide highlights the variety concert in support of those fighting, or who have been traumatised by the Australian bushfires.
Sunday’s Australia Day open air fundraising concert takes place in the grounds of Caccia Birch.
There’s plenty else happening with a matinee performance by the NZ Secondary Students’ Choir, Woodville Moto GP, annual Smallholders Auction, Amplify Rock Festival, UCI International ‘Gravel & Tar’ Cycle Race with associated community events, and the Lunar New Year Festival to welcome in the Year of the Rat.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
