Red Cross Annual Appeal 2020

Amber McArthur from Red Cross - Waikato Service Centre

Our annual street appeal is happening from 16-22 March 2020. It is our biggest fundraiser of the year. It not only helps us to continue the work we do but also raises awareness of the supportive services we provide.

Street collecting is a wonderful and fun way for you to be a part of something bigger. Meet and greet people in your community and encourage them to donate to a great cause. By donating your time, you’re making a real difference in people’s lives. It’s up to you when you want to volunteer - the time commitment is flexible, depending on your availability.

We are currently looking for volunteers that are available on Thursday 19th, Friday 20th and Saturday 21st March 2020. We are also looking for businesses and/or groups that may be able to take a site for a block of time.

Sign up today through the New Zealand Red Cross website by clicking the "Read More" button below this text and your local Red Cross Appeal Coordinator will be in touch.

Thank you for your support.

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Buses can be a relaxing way to get home if you have a seat and enough space. However, it can be off-putting when someone is taking a phone call next to you.

Do you think it's inconsiderate for people to have lengthy phone calls on a bus? Vote in the poll, and add your comments below.

What would you do if it was your job to fix Hamilton's CBD?

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

More alcohol restrictions, more lighting, busking rule changes and a whole lot of lobbying - these are some ways Hamilton leaders want to sort out the CBD.

Crime and anti-social behaviour in the area has been in the spotlight after recent news of a man defecating in the street near a city pub and another who flipped tables out the back of a bar after being found scrounging cigarette butts and asked to leave.

What would you do if it was your job to fix Hamilton's CBD? Tell us your reasons in the comments (adding NFP if you don't want your words used in print).
